Principles of a good Web Graphic Design

To create an appealing website that has a professional touch to it at the same time, you need to concentrate on some important factors listed below.

• First of all we have to decide on the background color that we are going to apply on the website. It should not be too flashy. You have to decide for how long you want to keep the visitor on your site like 10 mins., 15 mins.,20 mins., half an hour or 1 hr. The background color of the website will decide whether the visitor would like to stay on your site or not. This can be done by conducting a simple test. Just stare at the website for sometime from a visitor’s angle to see the comfort level of the color. If your eyes start to water within 15 mins then there is a problem with the color otherwise it’s ok.

• Now we have to decide on the color that we want to apply to the content text. There should be a level of consistency between the content text color and the background color. Font size is another important factor that adds to the overall appeal of the website. Except the title text, the font size of all other text on the page should be the same. The font size should be kept to a medium level so that it becomes easier for the visitor to read it. Try not to use more than three fonts at a time. Keep the website as simple and neat as possible with no unnecessary information.

• Another thing that we should remember is that we should not use longer content in the website so that the visitor has to scroll down till the end of the page to read it. If you have a lot of content to offer then you can split it into several sections of various pages.

So, in graphic design be it a website or any other form of graphics, remember that simplicity is the best key to success.

Graphic Design Education

There are many types of graphic design education programs available like certificate programs, associate degree programs, bachelor’s degree programs and master’s degree programs. In this article, we will give you an insight into the various programs to help you choose the best option for you.
The best course recommended to become a full-fledged graphic design professional is a bachelor’s degree followed by a master’s which is entirely optional. After you acquire a bachelor’s degree in graphic designing, you would be able to design logos, banners, ads, brochures and other promotional items using Quark Express, editing of images using Photoshop, creating images to and from different formats of graphic files etc. Even after all these, if you still want to refine your knowledge and get a job of high status then you can always go for a master’s degree.
Another program that you can opt for is the associate degree program which actually focuses on some specific parts of designing only. This program will give you knowledge on the technical aspects of graphic design. To finish it, I would suggest that if you don’t have 3 years to devote to these courses then you can opt for short-term certificate courses from any reputed computer training institute. These courses will not provide you with enough training due to their short duration but continuous practice will definitely make you a master at designing.
Therefore the conclusion is that if you want to seriously pursue graphic designing as a full-time career option then you must go for either a bachelor’s or an associate degree program.
